It’s well known that a good morning routine is common of almost all successful people, someone once said that “if you win the morning, you win the day”. I’ve recognised that in my personal life what makes the biggest difference to how productive I am that day is how I start it and I can almost guarantee that it will be the same for you. Success is about the person you are, it’s something you attract by the person you become, and solid morning routine might just be the first step in the right direction.

So here are my top four components of high productivity morning routine - enjoy! 


Review your goals

Most people set goals at the beginning of the year, store them away and forget about them and then wonder at the end of December why this wasn’t their year as the pastor said it would be. If you’re goals are out of sight then they are generally out of mind and if they are out of mind, you are unlikely to make any effective action towards them. Goals rarely get achieved by accident. Taking the time each morning to remind yourself of your main goals will serve you well.

I encourage my clients to review their goals by simply re-writing their top two or three biggest goals each morning and when I say biggest goals I mean BIG goals, goals that excite them, goals that they don’t quite have the how figured out for and will tend to be daily long term. They need to excite you!


Eat a healthy breakfast

True and lasting success is as much internal as it is external. If you think that acquiring external success in the form of impact, money, holidays etc. but you don’t have a body that functions well you are badly mistaken. Success is given to those who steward it well; you can’t steward it well if you aren’t in good health.

Feed your mind

In the ‘The Millionaire Maker Project’ Tomi Arayomi articulates that your wealth increases at the rate that your intelligence does and intelligence grows through reading. Books are the best way to acquire high quality knowledge – people often spend 10 years or more researching for a book, by reading you get all of this knowledge! When this is coupled with action, you become unstoppable.

Reading is an extremely important habit. The best way to make sure you the things that matter in the day is to do them first! It also sets the tone for your day and gives you time to ponder on the things you’ve learnt.


Practice gratitude

As an ambitious person you will often find yourself looking for the next thing, excited about what life new things life has to offer. If you don’t balance this with daily gratitude you can find yourself in a place of frustration rather than excitement. Gratitude also sets the tone for your day and has you FEELING GOOD and when you feel good everything changes!

Your gratitude practice could be as simple as verbally saying what you are thankful in the form of prayer, using a five-minute journal or going on a gratitude walk and meditating on what you have to be thankful for.
